A year has passed since we have posted any "News" on our site.
With the most recent of events we thought it was time to add a small update until we review our web-site early in the New Year and add new projects, images and so forth.
We posted back in December 2006, that Stuart Price and Roger Couch had been "promoted" to Associate Directors. I am now extremely pleased to announce that they have both become "Equity Share" Directors of Artchart > Architecture.
In the meantime until we post and add new detail to review, all of us here at Artchart wish everyone a Joyous Christmas and hopefully a more "Prosperous" New Year.
Time seems to rush by as a result the website had fallen a little out of date with respect to the various projects that we have been working on, so please review the residential, commercial and master-planning sections of our portfolio.
With our continuing expansion, we recruited a Practice/Office manager and were pleased to appoint Eddie Yeoman in this post and he joined us in May 2007. This year saw the RIBA introduce the new Chartered Practice scheme for which we are compliant and registered under, for further information on this scheme please view our links page, which will direct you to the RIBA website.
In between the frantic workload, there was a long weekend break for the Practice to undertake an "Architectural field-trip" to Barcelona in September, which proved to be incredibly interesting for all.
There remina an amazing confidence throughout Cornwall and particularly in Newquay, with a significant number of new developments gaining consent and commencing on-site throughout the town, we feel very privileged to be involved in part of this regeneration or should I say reinvigoration.
Of course not everyone agrees but then I am sure they did not either back in 1960-1970's when there was a major boom in the Hotel sector, times change and so must that which is provided to insure against stagnation.
With the continued growth of the Practice, we are pleased to announce that two team members being: Stuart Price and Roger Couch who have been with the Practice for a number of years have now been promoted to “Associate Directors” to strengthen the depth of resource to Clients and general management of the Practice. Planning consent has been gained for extending our office to create additional studio area, and we are also in the process of refurbishment of adjacent premises that can link through to provide immediate and additional studio / design workstation areas.
Training and validation from Elmhurst Energy Systems Limited has now been carried out so that Artchart can offer accredited SAP Assessments’ for our own in-house and for the independent rating of projects. Our continued association and involvement with the development of a new sustainable and eco-friendly build system continues with Hemsec-SIPS and Oz~1 (check out through the links page) with the preparation of the stand design for the Future-Build show in February 2007 which will see the formal public / industry launch of the off-site fabrication of the panel build system with other various associated sustainable, energy efficient and eco friendly complimentary products also being showcased.
On a final note thanks go to everyone who attended our “End of summer bash” where apart from enjoying the atmosphere, fine foods and drinks at the New Harbour-side Restaurant in Newquay, a raffle and auction raised £ 700.00 which was shared between the two charities we continue to support being: Newquay Hydrotherapy and CLIC Sargent.
Two further architectural staff have been recruited and joined the team to meet the continued growth in commissions, and we are seeking planning consent to extend our office studio area to create more workstations for additional staff.
The second phase of the Lepont Homes residential development at Chapel Meadow, Porthtowan is now at handover stage with purchasers due to move in almost immediately, the third phase is now under discussion with the planning department for a further 12 units. Highgrove Homes have commenced construction at Sandy Cove, Porthtowan of their residential development (go to link under project portfolio) with all the units being pre-sold.
Penpol Group have commenced the re-development of the former Tregarn Hotel in Pentire, Newquay with its demolition and site cleared in readiness for the construction phase to commence.
Development and research is still in progress on the new “Eco-home” through Penpol / OZ-One, with test models now under construction prior to its general release later this year, full details will be available soon.
Further commissions for new apartment and mixed retail developments have been secured and are now being progressed, and we are about to seek planning consent for the new Hydrotherapy Centre for Cornwall, which is to be located at Quintrell Downs.
There appears to be a very vibrant optimism to 2006 so far, as we have seen projects whch had been placed "on hold" now coming on-line to tender and construction phases.
The Second Phase of Lepont Homes development at Chapel Meadow, Porthtowan has now commenced and consideration is being given to a Third and final phase of new dwellings on this site.
We shall see the commencement of Highgrove Homes new mixed residential development of 35 units commence shortly at Sandy Cove, Porthtowan.
We are progressing sketch schemes for a number of new residential developments throughout the County, but perhaps the most exciting commision so far this year is the concept development for a wholly new model of sustainable residential units for the Penpol Group and we hope to release specific details within the next couple of months, which will far exceed any current and immediate future expectations of "eco-design" on a mass scale.
2005 has been a very hectic year for Artchart, with us settling in after final re-location and expansion of the Practice into our purpose-refurbished offices, the continuing growth in our Client base and a very diverse breadth of new commissions it has all been very rewarding. We now have the launch following the development of this new web-site with the addition not only of a wider spectrum of project images but also the introduction of the dedicated Client area for ease of posting interactive scheme details.
Our recent "Pre-Xmas Bash" held at the Chy Kitchen, a thank you party for our clients and associated colleagues, saw £300.00 being raised through a raffle which is to be split between the two local charities that we actively support being CLIC & Newquay Hydrotherapy, and a further £1500.00 being pledged to "Children in Need" our thanks go to everyone present who made this a very memorable evening.
The purpose of this News section will be where we can post general information about the practice, significant changes in legislation that may be of interest, so please check on a frequent basis. If there is a specific query please use our Contact Link and we shall pleased to try and help
